SELECTED STUDENT PROJECTS
STUDENT REFLECTIONS
I feel like I have grown more this semester than I have in all of my years in high school. I was taught that it’s okay to share my thoughts and feelings and that it’s okay to reach out to people. I feel proud of the growth I have made as a student. I have never been someone who genuinely enjoyed school and I actually never thought I would picture myself as someone who would be proud of the work I created. From my writing skills, to my ability to analyze and break up the readings we were given, I cannot express how proud I am of the growth I have made this semester. I spent a lot of time this semester paying attention to how I work in a classroom and how I function as a person and I know I will be able to apply what I have learned in the future. I am proud of the project I put time into, I am proud of the skills I gained in the work we did, and I am proud of the knowledge I know I obtained from this whole semester.

I feel most accomplished about my final project because it made me proud to be able to bring awareness to issues that I care about. From this project, I learned to communicate effectively and support my claims with factual evidence. I grew confidence in being able to voice my opinions and I’m very proud of how much I grew from this project.
-Khaila Gohanna (12th grade)
It is not something I feel proud of, but more something that was created I feel proud of and it is this idea of family. This class became a family that I will always care for an never forget. But then I also am proud of being able to write a 6 page research paper. I can write more than a half page without having writer's block.
-Abraham Ramirez (12th grade)
I feel that I definitely grew this semester in writing and in my reading analysis. I don’t think I have ever analyzed a book so hard in my entire life; the literary journal sounded like such a pain at first but once we got started and I actually tried, it helped me so much with understanding the book. I grew in writing this year through the timed essays; one thing I struggled with most was writing under pressure. I feel that I am already a very strong writer but whenever I get timed I stress out and get writer's block. The exercise we did during class helped me a lot and even helped my improve my SAT score. I am now very confident with writing under pressure and with being able to write an essay with only a short amount of time. -
-Shadrac Contreras (12th grade)
I feel like after this semester, I am more prepared for college than any other english class has prepared me before. I feel like I have grown just in the idea to keep going and trying to give my best despite having to divert my attention to other aspects of my life. I feel that I will continue to improve as I approach college because of my experiences this semester. I am happy I got to improve and learn in the ways I did.

Definitely I have grown. I learned so much from this class about myself. I learned how to show what I am thinking, connect with my teachers and be myself.
